There has been a trend lately with people getting large tribal tattoos. These bold designs were created on the fly or actually on the arm. It is always fun doing something new and original, not just copying from flash.

Although this tribal tattoo has no actual tribe that it is from, I often look to the past for inspiration in my designs. Drawing this tattoo seemed easy as it flowed onto the arm. Design the tattoo directly on the skin is always interesting as you may not know where it is going to end up. Most of the tribal designs you have seen on my blog tend to be freehand tattoo designs, created in the moment.

Some tribal Tattoos have history and meaning behind them and if you are so inclined to get one, you should know the meaning behind your tattoo. Many of thew designs I use for tribal tattoos I come up with on my own but sometimes I take the time to research an authentic tribal tattoo motif. Using tribal designs to make something new and original can be rewarding and end up with a very unique design.
