Tattoo cover up revealed! Scandal over.

Tattoo cover up is revealed. Step by step how I covered up the past and created a new tattoo. Maybe you or someone you know has a reminder of their past that they would rather  erase, well if it is tattooed in your skin then the best answer is a tattoo cover up. No matter what the old tattoo is the final results should be something that you would want to have and that it covers up.

What works and what does not work, as a tattoo cover, is important when considering reworking your tattoo. Not everything will work. Check out the results that your artist has gotten with other cover ups, those result should not be some big black blob. The finished tattoo should look like it belongs on that body part and not awkward.  Think before you ink! And follow RoseCityTattoo@twitter.com

The Art of the cover up

The art of the cover up revisited. Seems like it is every other day that I am doing a tattoo cover up or fixing up poorly done tattoo. The skull and dagger tattoo was a choice of a young man and with time there became a need to rework into a more up dated tattoo.

Saturday

Tattoos Mistakes, Think before you ink!

Sorry to disappoint Mike, but your name won't be there forever like you may have thought. Tattoo that seemed like a great idea at the moment may need some rethinking in the future and a cover up may be the only solution. Think before you ink!
With some creativity and vision a design is thought up and sketched and soon the old tattoo is transformed.

The finished cover up tattoo. Now flowers definitely look better than some large tag. Think before you ink!

Before and After Tattoos

Reworking an older tattoo is a challenge to say the least. Always trying to improve the overall tattoo, I work on creating flow throughout the whole tattoo. Many times I find myself working on or around other people's work. So here is one of my latest fix ups, American Bald Eagle surrounded by Old Glory

Monday

A Colorful Cover Up

The older tattoo was simple comedy and tragedy  masks. The tattoo was not well done and need to be upgraded. Keeping with a color theme that will add to her lower back tattoo, we came up with these colorful roses.
Another successful cover up! There is no sign of the old tattoo.

Thursday

Classic American Eagle Tattoo

American eagles are great tattoo themes. This small tattoo of a soaring eagle was poorly thoughtout and done. Thinking out what the finished tattoo will look like and age on your body is something important to consider. Working with a good tattooist a plan should be drawn up and then tattooed.

So with a plan of covering up the smaller tattoo with a freshly styled patriotic eagle tattoo. Going with an old school style with bold lines and solid colors this design covered the old tattoo.
The finished eagle tattoo has a whole different atitude. Proud American!

Friday

Classic Tattoo Roses

Classic old tattoo ready to be covered up. These original tattoos were done way too small and lacked definition.
Keeping with the flowers to make a cover up work we selected roses I added the banner and parents name along with the year of their marriage.

The Art of Cover up Tattoos

So it seemed like a good idea at the time, but no matter what you tattoo on your skin you can always have it altered or covered up. Recently I covered up some names and some old tattoos that have out lived their glitter.

The after tattoo is complete and there is no sign of the old tattoo. Flowers on the lower back is a much better tattoo designs. So think before you ink. A well placed tattoo can be changed in the future when it has out lived its charm.

Monday

The Celtic Cover Up

tattoo cover up
Celtic tattoo This was a first for me, using celtic tattoo designs to cover up an armband tattoo. Tattoo cover ups are always a challenge, not something to take liightly. Plan out your next tattoo and avoid the need for a tattoo removal or cover up.

Wednesday

American Eagle Tattoo Cover Up

The great American eagle cover up? Sounds like a political cover up, but it's not. Here is an example of my work covering up a branding on his left and a band log on his right side of his chest.Eagle Tattoo

Saturday

Golden Pagoda, Tattoo Cover up

pagoda tattoo OK so you got her name on your arm... no problem. Creating a new image is the best way to cover it up. So here is what I did...Golden Pagoda
Drawn from a picture, I took while in Japan a number of years ago,The Golden Pagoda reflecting in a tranquil pond. When I took the picture I knew that someday I would tattoo the image.Dragon tattoo

Another reworked tattoo, here once laid a mighty dragon ( but poorly done)but time has shown that some thing are better off fading. I reworked the dragon and added some stars and his signature logo "Chef in Thyme".

Art of the Cover Up

Before, cover up tattoo Nothing is forever ! There is a second chance to fix that tattoo, bringing new life to a tattoo can take many paths. Many people think that they need to have Laser tattoo removal to get an effective tattoo cover up,as long as you want a tattoo where you have one, then look for a good design that will do the job. Where are you going with yours?

And After!Lotus flower tattoo After a few drawings ,we found a direction for this cover up tattoo, it was time to ink.tattoo cover up Here I reworked a dated tattoo of Harley wing and created a new and artful Chrysanthemum tattoo. It definitely look better on her shoulder than the old one.

Friday

Bald Eagle Cover Up Tattoo

Eagle Tattoo
So a guy walks into a tattoo shop... sounds like a start of a joke, but seriously which tattoo shop you walk into could mean all the difference in how your tattoo comes out. Here I used an American Eagle Tattoo to cover a poorly done and totally backward Eagle Globe and Anchor Tattoo. A type of tattoo I take a lot of pride in doing well. So beware on where and who tattoos you, not all tattoo mistakes can be easily covered up. I will have a before picture of the covered tattoo soon.
